I discovered Brother David Steindl-Rast, this extraordinary Benedictine monk, in a TEDx talk many years ago.

The unique way Brother David spoke about gratitude, as the hidden opportunity within every moment, even the most difficult ones , truly touched my soul.

His ability to distill a philosophy of life into three simple yet profound words, “Stop,” “Look,” “Go”, stirred something deep within me.

And his view of humanity? To him, every person has the potential to be a mystic in their own unique way, because each of us experiences the Mystery of Life through our own lens.

One moment that struck me deeply was when he prayed to the Source of all Blessings for the wisdom to discern: when to be precise and when to embrace freedom, leaving room for creativity and imprecision. It was a powerful and liberating insight.

He is a man of remarkable vision, a bridge between religions and cultures, grounded in trust for science, and the founder of a movement Grateful Living that places Gratitude at the very heart of human life. If you want to contribute to this movement, you can do so here.

His message, “We should live our lives with constant awareness of the ongoing miracle we are all part of”, is one that opens hearts.

I feel deeply grateful to have encountered your work, dear Brother David. Thank you.
