“A chick called Albert”, I can’t quite recall how long ago YouTube’s algorithm introduced me to a video of a man, always silent, accompanied by a soft musical theme, caring for animals, especially birds of every kind.
In moments of restlessness, Alwyn’s videos had an almost magical ability to calm me. His gaze, oh, his gaze! Look into his eyes if you want to see the living embodiment of what it means to have “the gaze of a good man.” There’s a gentle yet profound sweetness, a quiet tenderness, and a deep sense of care and dedication toward these creatures that reaches into the heart.
The closeness, the embrace, the warmth, not merely physical, that flows from every action Alwyn takes toward the animals is unmistakable. And the way these tiny beings feel safe and comforted in his presence stirs something deep within me: “We should draw inspiration from that sense of safety and comfort,” “to offer it to ourselves and to those around us.”
Thank you, Alwyn, for the spirit you carry… thank you for the soul that shines so clearly through your eyes.
